How to get a high score in block puzzle: combos, streaks and board clears

In a block puzzle, placing blocks earns only a little. The big points come from clearing several lines with one block, clearing over and over without a break, and, now and then, emptying the whole board. Once you know how the score is built, you can aim for the moves that pay most. Here's Blockfold's scoring and a plan to beat your best.

Where the points come from

Points in Blockfold: 1 per square placed; 10, 30, 60 or 100 for clearing 1 to 4 lines at once; +10 per streak step; +300 for an empty board
Clearing lines together pays far more than clearing them one by one.

Combos: clear lines together

The best combos come from a row and a column that cross at the same empty square, or from two or three neighbouring rows that each need the same few squares.

  1. Build two or three lines up to almost full, leaving their missing squares lined up.
  2. Wait for the block that fills those squares exactly, often a straight line or an L.
  3. Drop it: all the lines clear in one move.

Don't wait too long, though. A board full of nearly finished lines is also a board with no space for a 3×3 square.

Streaks: clear on almost every turn

Streaks reward a steady rhythm rather than one big move. The trick is to always have at least one line that's one or two squares from full. Then whatever blocks you get, one of them can usually finish it.

The streak counter appears under your score as Streak ×2, Streak ×3 and so on. It resets after three blocks in a row without a clear.

A plan to beat your best score

  1. Early game (empty board): play tidy. Fill edges and keep the middle open. Go for a board clear if you see one.
  2. Mid game: keep two or three lines nearly full along one side, and use them to keep your streak going.
  3. Every turn: if you have a choice, take the move that clears more lines at once.
  4. When the board fills up: stop chasing combos and clear whatever you can, one line at a time. Staying alive is worth more than any bonus.

Your best score shows next to the trophy at the top of the screen, and Menu > Statistics shows your best score, games played, lines cleared and longest streak. All of it stays on your phone.
